On Friday, May 19, Poweshiek County Extension hosted its annual Ag Safety Day at Montezuma Community School District. Kindergartners through fifth-graders rotated between various presenters to learn about the importance of staying safe on farms, in the outdoors and at home.

Local presenters included: Poweshiek County Conservation (life jacket safety), Poweshiek County Public Health (sun safety), Poweshiek County 4-H (biosecurity), Iowa Department of Natural Resources (ATV/UTV safety), Sinclair Tractor (tractor safety), Iowa Corn (corn trailer), Montezuma Fire and Rescue (fire safety), Montezuma Community School District (bus safety), Manatt's Inc. (hard hat safety, safety glasses, and three points of contact), TIP Rural Electric Cooperative (electrical safety), Bayer (auger and PTO safety, grain bin safety, and chemical look-alikes).

Poweshiek County Farm Bureau sponsored the lunch, with Farm Credit volunteers and Montezuma FFA members assisting with food preparation and station rotations.
